The morning of February 16 saw hundreds of students, faculty, and staff gather outside the Davis building after a fire alarm went off. Students whose midterms were scheduled during the morning were cancelled and moved to the next week.
A large construction project on the fifth floor of the building was the cause of the fire. Pipes were being welded when the pipe insulation caught fire. Although the fire was immediately put out, the ventilation system of the Davis building carried the smoke to the entire building.
For safety reasons and until the smoke had been completely cleared out, everyone in the Davis building was escorted out.
There was no smoke or fire damage.
