Former Mississauga mayor Hazel McCallion has been appointed as special advisor to Premier Doug Ford and the province’s minister of municipal affairs and housing Steve Clark.
McCallion served three decades as mayor, and made her political journey a successful and celebrated one.
“Housing is one of our government’s top priorities and I’m looking forward to having Hazel McCallion support our work on the Housing Supply Action Plan,” said Clark in a release. “Ms. McCallion brings many decades of public service, public advocacy and, most importantly, public representation that will enable her to provide advice […] on a range of municipal issues.”
Recently, Premiere Ford was asked about the pay rate for Hazel McAllion in her new role, where he said and quoted Hazel, “I sit on eight boards. I will help you any way I can, but I’m not taking a salary.” In 2015, she was appointed as yearlong special advisor to vice-president of U of T and principal of UTM Professor Deep Saini.
