Unit 3 of CUPE 3902 has ratified its agreement, successfully avoiding a strike.
According to social media reports, over 70% of Unit 3 members, representing academic staff hired under contracts of less than one year, voted in favour of the tentative agreement.
The vote was the second of a two-stage ratification process beginning with a ratification meeting last week at which members voted to send the agreement to a full membership vote. Polls were then opened to all members of the unit to ratify the agreement.
Unit 1 members—representing TAs, course instructors, invigilators, and other staff—remain on strike.
Full details are pending.
